Connecting Google Ads to Looker Studio through TMR enables deeper insights into your campaign performance and supports more informed decision-making. Before linking your Google Ads data with Looker Studio, please make sure you have the required permissions in place:
Required permissions
- You need access to a Google Ads account or a manager account with Read-only permission. If you have already connected Google Ads but your ad account is not visible, please re-grant access to the manager account..

After confirming these requirements, proceed with the steps below to connect your Google Ads data to Looker Studio using TMR.
Step 1: Streamline your Google Ads account in Looker Studio
Go to https://hub.twominutereports.com/. Choose Two Minute Reports for Looker Studio.
- Choose Google Ads from the available list of connectors.
- Next, connect your Google Ads data by clicking New Connection to begin setting up the connection in Looker Studio.

- The Adding New Connection dialog box will appear. From here, you can connect the required Google Ads account by completing the following two simple steps:
- Create the connection by giving it a name and authorizing the Gmail account linked to your Google Ads account.
- Select accounts for use: After authentication, enable the required ad accounts to access meaningful campaign insights, as shown above. Please note that reports can be created only for the ad accounts you enable.
And that’s it. You can now configure your Google Ads account to extract meaningful results.
Step 2: Configure your Google Ads account with TMR
- In the Query Configs section, click + Add New.

The Adding New Query Configuration dialog box will appear. Provide a name for the query configuration, select the required ad accounts from the list of enabled accounts in the dropdown, and configure your Google Ads report. Once completed, click Save.
- You have successfully created a new configuration. You can now use this Query Config to extract data into your Looker Studio reports.
Step 3: Create a Google Ads report with TMR in Looker Studio
- After creating the Query Config, click Create Report in the top-right corner, as shown below.
- Select the Query Config you created (for example, Google Ads query) from the list of options. Click Next, then choose Create report from scratch to open the Looker Studio dashboard.
- Once the Looker Studio dashboard opens, select your team and the required Query Config from the dropdown. Then, click Connect in the top-right corner.
- Once you click Create Report, you’ll be directed to the Looker Studio dashboard. Here, you can drag and drop the associated Google Ads metrics and dimensions to analyze campaign insights faster.
- To make your Looker Studio report compelling, use charts and visualizations. Click Add a chart and choose relevant chart types to configure your dashboard.
For example, you can use bar charts to showcase Google Ads campaign trends and scorecards to highlight key KPIs such as clicks, ROAS, and conversions. Additionally, adding a date range control allows you to analyze campaign performance over a specific period, helping you track changes and optimize your strategy more effectively.
